"A Friendly Place To Stay"
We would like to welcome you to the Ross H. Maclean Rotary RV Park.
Located at historic Mile 52 on the Alaska Highway, the Rotary
RV Park is the place to stay as you travel along this world famous highway.
Located on the shores of beautiful Charlie Lake, British Columbia, 4 miles north
of the city of Fort St. John, our RV Park
can provide you with days of enjoyable activities. Check out some of the upcoming
special events in the area.
The park is situated close to the original distribution camp and
supply depot that was constructed during the building of the Alaska Highway.
A plaque describing the facility and the importance of the area is only a five
minute walk away from the park.
As you travel along the Alaska Highway you will be struck by the
beauty that you will see. Stopping at the Rotary RV Park will allow you to see
it without being rushed away. Take some time to watch one of our beautiful northern
sunsets or take some time to walk along the trails by the lake shore and see
the wonders of Mother Nature.
There
are walking trails along the lake shore and in the nature reserve that borders
the park. You can explore the Charlie
Lake Cave and see where the oldest sign of human habitation in the province
was discovered. Squirrels, chipmunks, beaver, snowshoe hares and muskrat are
likely to be seen. Large mammals such as moose, white-tailed deer, mule deer
and black bear are fairly common throughout the area but are shy and unlikely
to be seen close to the park. Birds of the open woodlands are abundant in summer
with species like the northern oriole, rose-breasted grosbeak, ovenbird, American
redstart and white-throated sparrow much in evidence. Waterfowl are frequent
visitors to the lake and shoreline and a walk through the nearby trails may
rouse a sharp-tailed or ruffed grouse.
We provide
you with easy access to a boat launch and fishing dock on this beautiful lake
that has Perch, Northern Pike, Bass, Pickerel and some of the best Walleye fishing
in B.C. The Charlie Lake General Store can supply you with fishing licenses,
tackle, live bait as well as cooking supplies to make a fishing expedition quite
enjoyable. Charlie Lake is also considered a Grade 1 Lake for canoeing.
Throughout
the summer you may be able to take in a baseball game as local teams play each
other at the nearby baseball diamonds. We provide firewood and firepits to spend
your evening around or you can also ask us to open the back gate to allow you
to walk over and visit Jackfish
Dundees Pub for food and fun in the evenings. To make sure you enjoy your
stay here and wake well rested we have a "quiet time" rule after 10:00 pm. We
offer super clean facilities, including laundry, showers and handicap accessible
restrooms. We are located directly across from the Charlie Lake General Store
which in addition to fishing tackle, can provide you with all supplies, including
gas, diesel and propane, foodstuffs, magazines, and more. There is also a Souvenir
Shop and Post Office at the General Store.
The
Rotary RV Park has wide road access, pull through sites, full and partial service
sites with 30 amp power service, sani dump, tenting sites, and much more. For
those people who need to get online we have a modem capable pay phone onsite
that you can use. On your next trip along the Alaska Highway make sure that
the Ross H. Maclean Rotary RV Park is on your itinerary. We are looking forward
to meeting you.
